You are a very eloquent National Spokesperson for RAINN (Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network). How did you become involved with the organization?

I have been working with RAINN for ten years now. I worked on a film in 2006, "Black Snake Moan," and brought them in to consult and became more involved from there.

Can you tell us a little bit more about the organization?

RAINN is the nation's largest anti-sexual assault organization. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotlines (800.656.HOPE and in partnership with over 1,100 local rape crisis centers across the country. The hotlines have helped more than 1.2 million people since 1994. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual assault, help victims and ensure that rapists are brought to justice.

This is such emotionally charged work, and we applaud you. What's been your proudest moment with RAINN?

I traveled to Washington, DC in 2007 to lobby Capitol Hill. I met with legislators in an effort to encourage them to pass bills designed to help solve rape cases and make communities safer.

What would you suggest to someone who wanted to start volunteering but didn't know where to start?
