newyear

As I get older it seems that the holidays come faster and faster each year. When you have children it’s almost like there is never a break from holidays. Once the New Year begins I hardly have enough time to breath before it’s time to start planning birthday parties and designing new Halloween costumes. I can’t complain though, I love my job as a mother and I am as close as it gets to being a hip Martha Stewart to the 30 something’s. Although, I prefer to identify myself as June Cleaver with an edge. My point is, it gets more difficult each year to find time for resolutions when there are so many other obligations on the table. Most of us tend to make resolutions that focus on common issues like weight loss, quitting smoking or drinking, and securing our financial futures. Let’s be honest though, how many of us actually stick to these promises? At best we survive on ambition alone for a couple of weeks after New Year’s Eve, but eventually the majority of us become so overwhelmed with daily life that we quickly fall back into old patterns. It is no secret that these common resolutions are notoriously ridden by failure. It’s not always our own fault. So many factors weigh heavily on the success of weight loss, and improving our health, and sometimes we may have to tap our life savings when a failing economy hits us below the belt. After so many years of falling off the resolution wagon myself I decided to change my thinking. Rather than making myself empty promises of fitting into the jeans I loved so much in high school or putting away enough money to finally travel abroad, I chose to set goals that are not only easy to fulfill but also provide eternal enrichment for my soul.

It all began in 2001 when my daughter was only 1 year old. I wasn’t getting any closer to losing that baby weight and my wallet was surely getting thinner as I purchased a thousand diapers a day. I had quit smoking, but a glass of red wine was a bedtime staple. I took a moment to think about the things I missed the most, the things that used to bring me peace but that I could no longer find the time to enjoy. What was it that I could resolve to bring back to my life without killing myself trying to obtain it? After racking my brain for a bit it hit me….READ A BOOK! Yes, that was it. If I could just read everyday even it I only had 10 minutes to do it, I would be so much happier. And what does happiness bring? Well, happiness creates more endorphins in my brain. Endorphins give me energy and ambition. That energy and ambition gives me the strength to be healthy minded. A healthy mind encourages me to take better care of myself. When I take better care of myself I lose weight. Weight loss helps me save money because rather than buying new clothes I can pull out those skinny jeans. I love the way I feel in those jeans so I strut around with pride and confidence and the confidence clears up all the clutter in my head and helps me to get out into the world and share my contagious joy. With all that joy my body feels so great that my desire to smoke or drink is almost non-existent. So you see, a small resolution that is easy to keep can have a profound effect on your entire life. It’s been 9 years since I resolved to simply pick up a book and since then I have read every single day without fail. The moment I finish one book I already have another one right next to me to begin. I have lost 50 pounds and I occasionally have a drink on the weekends. Before I made that change in my life I was a young mother that couldn’t even chase my daughter around the yard without being in pain, now my daughter can’t keep up with me. You wanna know something else that happens when you succeed at your personal goals and feel happiness? You feel a desire to help other people as well, because you have that extra joy to spread around. When you get to that place in your soul where you have the ability to help others it’s sometimes hard to decide where to start, so I have a few suggestions for you. There are thousands of foundations out there to support but I chose a handful to share with you that are near and dear to my heart.

RAINN: The nation’s largest anti-sexual assault organization.
One of “America’s 100 Best Charities” —Worth Magazine

RAINN operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline, and publicizes the hotline’s free, confidential services; educates the public about sexual assault; and leads national efforts to prevent sexual assault, improve services to victims and ensure that rapists are brought to justice. In 2007, RAINN expanded its hotline services with the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline, the nation’s first secure web-based hotline that provides live and completely confidential help to victims through an interface as intuitive as instant messaging. RAINN uses its community partnerships to put critical information into the hands of young women and men at concerts, on campus and in communities. Through these efforts, RAINN educates more than 120 million Americans each year about sexual assault. And that is just a small taste of what RAINN does for the world.

Founded by its member charities in 1988, EarthShare is an opportunity for caring employees and workplaces to support hundreds of environmental charities through workplace giving campaigns. A workplace giving campaign is an annual, employer-sponsored program that lets employees contribute a few dollars per paycheck as their charitable donation. Today EarthShare represents 71 national organizations and hundreds of local groups in 19 states. EarthShare’s member charities work hard every day to safeguard your health, our quality of life and the natural resources we depend on. All of these efforts are supported by EarthShare’s mission: To engage individuals and organizations in creating a healthy and sustainable environment. But you don’t have to be an employee to help Earthshare’s efforts. You can help by simply contributing through your everyday online purchases. You can feel good about your decision to give through EarthShare. EarthShare practices financial transparency and earned the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance Accredited Charity ranking.

Do Something believes that you have the power to make a difference. It is their aim to inspire, support and celebrate a generation of doers: people who see the need to do something, believe in their ability to get it done, and then take action. At DoSomething.org they provide the tools and resources for you to convert your ideas and energy into positive action and to be part of a generation of doers. At Do Something they have five guidelines that they live by:

  1. Believe in teenagers. Teenagers can lead today. We don’t require adults.
  2. Trust teenagers. They provide reliable, easy to access information and  activation strategies, but teens decide for themselves what to do.
  3. Celebrate teenagers. They think all measurable contributions from teens are valuable.
  4. Respect teenagers. They understand that teenagers have diverse abilities and constraints.
  5. Value teenagers. Their programs and products are free. They’re not after teens’ money; they want their passion, time and creativity.

With guidelines like that it’s hard not to give kudo’s and contributions to such a fantastic organization.

This simple guiding principle is one of the reasons why TakingItGlobal been successful in enabling youth leaders. How this blueprint is achieved differs for everyone, but they all emerge from this process with the same results. Inspiration from a global community of their peers builds self-confidence. Information provided by tools and resources accelerates their transformation into better agents of change. Involvement through opportunities enables their capacity as active citizens.

Their vision: Youth everywhere actively engaged and connected in shaping a more inclusive, peaceful and sustainable world.
Their mission: To enable a collaborative learning community which provides youth with access to global opportunities, cross-cultural connections and meaningful participation in decision-making.

If you’ve been on this planet long enough I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “the children are our future” and it couldn’t be more true or relevant than it is today. Let’s face it folks, we have a pretty grim future unless we inspire and nurture our children on a global scale. TakingItGlobal is an excellent resource to help you get started.

gavilogo

Their mission is simple but their impact is profound: To save children’s lives and protect people’s health by increasing access to immunization in poor countries. How do they do this? A few ways is through their innovative partnership, funding and technologies. Launched in 2000, the GAVI Alliance is a global health partnership representing stakeholders in immunization from both private and public sectors: developing world and donor governments, private sector philanthropists such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the financial community, developed and developing country vaccine manufacturers, research and technical institutes, civil society organizations and multilateral organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the World Bank. By working together, Alliance members achieve objectives, that no single agency or group could achieve:

-Accelerate access to existing underused vaccines;
-Strengthen health and immunization systems in countries;
-Introduce innovative new immunization technology, including vaccines.

This prevents millions of deaths worldwide and contributes to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal for child health.

You might be asking what you can do to contribute to one or all of these incredible foundations. I have a very simple solution for you that will tie into some of those personal resolutions you have for yourself. It all starts with basic online purchases by using NonProfitShoppingMall as your resource for some of the best retailers in the world. Each and every purchase you make will contribute a percentage of your final sale to the non-profit organization of your choice.  For Instance, let’s say you’ve made a promise to yourself to relax more this coming year, or perhaps you’d like to take a trip. There are 2 great retailers out there to help you succeed. Pick up some pajamas from BedHead Pajamas and settle down with that DVD you keep meaning to set aside time for. Or how about purchasing some airline tickets from Expedia.com for that unforgettable trip you’ve always dreamed of. Another great resolution is to boost your ego with a fabulous new wardrobe from Roots.com. Roots has some of the cutest jackets and sweaters for the whole family to keep you warm all winter. One of the most common and difficult resolutions is to be healthier. Whether you want to shed those holiday pounds or have an even bigger health goal at hand, Drugstore.com is the place to purchase all of your nutritional supplements as well as goodies such as a neck & shoulder massager to help you relax. By purchasing from these retailers online you have the ability to help organizations all over the world. This brings me back to my original point….help yourself and you will have the power and the desire to help others. IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE.
To each and every one of you, I wish you a beautifully enriching new year.

Yes Virginia, You Can Have It All with Angie’s List

Posted on December 22nd, 2009 by Jasmine in home improvement, productivity tools, shop green, sustainability 0 Comments

angieslistlogo_lrg

Whether it’s last minute holiday repairs or getting a jump start on those nagging home improvement ideas you’ve been putting off – Angie’s List is your go-to site to get it all done!

Have you ever wished that when hiring a professional for home improvement jobs, you could see a report card on their performance? What about having the ability to read reviews from the people in your neighborhood without having to go door to door for advice? Perhaps you are pessimistic due to a prior disaster involving a contractor with less than classy behavior around your children. Or maybe you have had a surprisingly satisfying experience with a team of local landscapers who not only helped you realize your dream but made it better than you could have imagined. Whether you need a job done or you have just had one completed and would like to share your experience, Angie’s List is the answer to everything.

What is Angie’s List?
Angie’s List is a website where you’ll find thousands of unbiased reports and reviews about service companies in your area. You can find information and costumer reviews on over 450 categories of service. Angie’s List members share their experiences with each other so that you can choose the service company that’s right for your job the first time around. This is more than just a resource site for home improvement. You will also find services such as health care, child care, fitness centers, catering and much, much more. You can even search from a list of strictly eco-friendly companies for those of you who are dedicated to green living.

When browsing through the Angie’s List you will find all kinds of extra helpful information. For example, there is Angie’s Tips and I think you’ll agree that the tips provided are not what you would expect from any normal website of this nature. Here are just a few topics that could help answer those little questions that nag you from time to time:

How to buy green flooring
When to keep a sick child home
How to break up with your hairstylist
Holiday decorating safety tips
Online shopping tips
Diabetes warning sign and tips

Angie also has what is called a penalty box. Rather than only listing those service providers that are excellent, she also finds it very important to list those that have failed to meet a costumer’s satisfaction. The penalty box is operated by a complaint resolution process. There are four possible outcomes in the resolution process.
The first outcome is “pending” meaning that the complaint is in process and a final outcome has not yet been determined. The second is “resolved”, this simply means that the service company has met the member’s request for resolution to the complaint. The third is “stalemate” and it means that the service company has responded to the member’s request for resolution, but they have declined to fulfill the member’s requirements for resolution. The fourth and final outcome is “penalty box” and this is reserved for companies that have failed to respond to a costumers request for resolution, or sometimes they have responded but failed to follow through with their promise to the costumer. Bottom line is you don’t want to end up in the penalty box if you are a company on Angie’s List and as a consumer you would want to steer clear of these companies for your service needs.

There is quite a bit of buzz surrounding Angie’s List. Aside from all the wonderful advice, helpful tid bits and dozens of other reasons to visit this website there is a wonderful section where you can check local news reports as well as local costumer reviews just by picking your city and state from a drop down list. Once you choose your town you will be directed to a page where you can read thousands of reports to help you in your decision making process.
Check out some of the reviews from nationwide reports:

newyorktimes

todayshow

usnews

And here are some costumer reviews:

“I’ve heard horror stories about women being taken advantage of on price and service, and I didn’t want this to happen to me. So I talked to a friend, and she directed me to Angie’s List. What a blessing! Now I can avoid being the victim of another horror story. Thank you Angie’s List!”
–Jessica K., Atlanta, Ga.

“When I had a problem with a service provider, Angie stuck up for me, and I got action immediately. I wish I would have called earlier!”
–Robert H., Columbus, Ohio

“Before Angie’s List, selecting a service provider was like throwing darts blind folded. Those who report on Angie’s List have helped me make informed, logical, educated decisions. I am truly grateful.”
–Nancy B., St. Paul, Minn.

“I think it’s great that people can use Angie’s List for medical referrals. I absolutely love my pediatrician, and I think people should know about
my holistic dentist!”
–Joan L., San Jose

There is also a fabulous blog section, podcasts, and Angie’s List Magazine. You might be wondering if there is a fee to join Angie’s List and the answer is yes, but the fees are minimal and with so much information at your fingertips it’s hard to imagine why anyone would use any other resource for their service needs.

So go check out Angie’s List from our retailer line-up. I’m confident you will be impressed and the next time you need any type of service for your home you’ll know exactly where to turn for help.

The goal of the T-shirt graphic is to say let’s fight this, to get the message out, to talk about the issue and to encourage safe sex.”

BedHead Pajamas

bedhead_top

BedHead Pajamas has caught my eye again with their 2009 Fall/Winter catalogue and the introduction of Boo Boo BedHead, a collection of mommy and me styles. As well, they have brought us the new BedHead Stretch, a cotton/lycra blend of the cutest prints and styles available for the kid at heart. As the weather gets colder and the nights get longer we all want something warm and comforting to wrap ourselves in. Might as well dress yourself in something that makes you smile, or possibly invoke a pillow fight. Check these out….

bedhead1

One of the best things about these pajamas is the variety of styles available for each print. We all have personal preferences and whether you are dressed for work or dressed for bed, what is truly important is that you feel confident in what you are wearing. The BedHead Stretch collection is both fun and comfortable no matter what style you prefer. The stretch blend is 95% cotton and 5% lycra, so you still get all the comfort of cotton with just enough stretchy lycra to compliment anyone’s figure just right.

There are plenty more new designs to choose from in the new catalogue. The men have some fresh prints to flaunt as well. Pictured below we have the classy Casablanca Men’s Pajama’s with robe, the Striped Cabana Pajamas, and the Cabana pants with a Henley long sleeve….I love a Henley long sleeve on a man!

bedhead2

Let us not forget that BedHead Pajamas is much more than just pajamas. They have such a beautiful selection of luxurious bedding and many other little goodies for your home. Be sure to check out the news digs for your holiday gifts.

To celebrate the new catalogue our friends at BedHead have been so gracious as to offer our supportive shoppers a special discount code which will be available to you through December 25th. When you’ve finished your shopping at bedheadpjs.com be sure to type NONPROFIT in the discount code box to receive an extra 15% off your entire purchase.

I would also like to take this opportunity to mention a charity that is very special to BedHead. BedHead has teamed up with Esperanza Community Housing Corporation in an effort to better our community and provide fair housing and affordable wages for everyone. BedHead currently has three pajama styles up on the website that, when purchased, 20% of the purchase price is donated to Esperanza. In addition, their Pink Ribbon PJ donates 15% of its purchase price to The National Breast Cancer Foundation. Can you even handle any more good news? Just think of all the good you can do simply by doing your holiday shopping at Bed Head Pajamas THROUGH Non Profit Shopping Mall. With so many charitable options available in one single purchase it’s quite possibly the most important gift you can purchase.

Now….go forth and shop happy!

With a Little Help from our Spanx

Posted on November 27th, 2009 by Jasmine in anything goes 0 Comments

spanx

Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive… except when it comes to a great undergarment from Spanx.   And with the holidays just ahead, a little deception from this excellent performance wear line can help hide a multitude of sweet and tasty sins.  As a woman, I’ve learned that no matter what shape or size you are, we women all need a good support system.  So like a gift from the Gods above, Spanx gives us exactly that.  We all want to look great in our clothes.  Some people prefer the helping hand of a bra with back support, while those of us who are less top heavy, so to speak, prefer the security of a gentle hug around our caboose.  With Spanx you can find the support and discretion you need to proudly strut your stuff from head to toe. They cater to every shape from petite to curvaceous, including those lucky ladies with legs that seem to go on for days or the mommy to be who refuses to give up on her fierce style simply because there’s a bun in the oven.  Pictured below is a sampling of the sleek solutions to keeping things under control.  Spanx has a surprisingly large line of undergarments to choose from –and nonprofitshoppingmall.com proudly works with 5 major retailers who carry the Spanx brand online, for maximum convenience.

spanx2

The second best thing about Spanx is how comfortable they are. Unlike traditional girdle-like garments, Spanx products are soft and breathable – with no embarrassing tight bands that roll down at the belly when you sit or bend either!

spanx3

Spanx has such a great line of tights and pantyhose. There are cute designs like the hounds-tooth tights pictured above, and they even carry fishnets. The tights pictured above center are fantastic. They are reversible. One day you can wear brown and another day you can turn them inside out and wear blue.  How cool is that?  Most importantly, woman who are pregnant want to feel sexy and they deserve it.  Spanx has some great pantyhose that give you sexy legs and full tummy support.

spanx4

As a big fan of strapless dresses and capri pants, these three shape-wear undergarments are my favorite.

Where can I buy Spanx?

spanx5

AND WHO DO WE THANK FOR SPANX?
In 1998, Spanx creator Sara Blakely found herself in a fashion dilemma. What she wanted to wear one day was her favorite pair of cream colored pants with some open-toe shoes. Sara was not a fan of the thong, nor did she want a visible panty line. So, she did what any fashion driven woman would do. She grabbed a pair of pantyhose and cut off the toes. Voila — she now had footless pantyhose and did not have to compromise her open-toe shoe.  That, my friends, was the birth of Spanx.  Sara Blakely now offers women, all over the world, freedom from visible panty lines, clingy fabrics, and tummy bulges. Thank you Sara!!

College Productivity Tools

Posted on September 30th, 2009 by Jasmine in RosettaStone, back to school, languages, mac connection, productivity tools, simpletuition, textbooks.com 0 Comments

For Just about every student out there the 2009-2010 school year has already begun but it’s never to late for school shopping, particularly for those attending college. Tuitions and supplies such as textbooks become more costly with each passing year so I’d like to help by sharing my findings in ways to stretch your education dollar this fall.
There are a handful of online retailers out there that are dedicated to supporting scholars worldwide and, in the process, are doing their part to ensure some social and global responsibility one step at a time. Collectively their mission is essentially the same: to help make the life of the eager, knowledge thirsty consumer easier while giving back to our communities for today’s generation and those to follow.

rosetta

Their mission is simple — expanding communication and understanding on a global scale. Though they realize there are many organizations offering beneficial services to the community, RosettaStone chooses to focus their support on organizations and events that incorporate one of three basic principles: language learning, diversity and culture, education and literacy. RosettaStone, in so many words, is a well-rounded company with simple and moral social responsibility standards. Whether you’re learning a new language as part of your studies or just looking to expand your cultural palette, you’ll surely find what you need at RosettaStone. With a proven track record at being the easiest and most successful way to learn a new language, you really can’t go wrong. They have products for the home, schools, business and home schooling. Choose from over 30 languages and maybe reward yourself with a trip to that country to test out your new skills on the locals.

rosettabox

textbooks

Online retailer’s textbooks.com boasts the largest selection of used textbooks on the planet and that’s saying a lot. With up to 90% off of over 9 million textbooks it’s hard to find a better place to buy the essentials. Textbooks.com also carries the largest selection of eTextbooks . What are eTextbooks? They are digital, downloadable versions of print textbooks, so you can access the same information as regular textbooks anywhere and anytime with out the hassle of carrying the weight of the real ones on your back. They sell new and used books on just about every subject out there and everything in between. When you are done with your books just sell them back to the company. As a thank you for recycling your books textbooks.com will automatically give you an extra 10% back! How great is that?

maclogo

The largely popular Apple MacBook is not only the perfect laptop computer for students, but it’s “greener” than most other electronics out there. Apple’s company as a whole has taken a stand to create products that help reduce our carbon footprint so we can continue to use the tools we rely on the most without further contributing to the demise of the home we all love and cherish. Since October of 2008 Apple has been providing costumers with estimates of greenhouse gas emissions generated by each new product sold. For example, the manufacturing and use of the fabulously popular MacBook results in 460 kg C02e emissions over four years. Based on EPA findings, that’s about the same amount the average car emits in just one month! That’s pretty impressive. It’s good to know that Apple cares, especially considering how many products they create that we as students and people of the work force rely on daily.

simple

To tie this all together we must consider the fees incurred in order to be a student. Finding a loan that’s right for you as an individual can be down right nauseating some times. With so many predatory lenders out there the last thing you need is for all of your hard work and dedication as a student to seem fruitless when you proudly accept your degree. SimpleTuition.com recognizes the importance of focusing on education rather than dwelling on debt. By using their system they can help you find a loan that is catered specifically to your needs, goals, and financial capabilities. Here is what some people have had to say about their experience with SimpleTuition.com…

BedHead Pajamas Cozy Fall Collection

Posted on August 24th, 2009 by Jasmine in anything goes, bedhead pajamas, children's wear, menopause 0 Comments

bedhead
It’s bittersweet when the hot days of summer begin waning into the breezy and chill nights of autumn.  Personally I’m a summer fanatic but I can’t deny the overwhelming joy of being able to slip back into a cozy set of pajamas.  In fact, as I scan my dresser drawers I realize I might just have more pajamas than regular clothes.  After all, some nights I feel the need to call upon the old faithful flannels and other nights it’s the magic of the sexy satins – one must be prepared. Whatever your preference may be, we all could use a great set of pj’s to make us feel cozy and warm.  At Bed Head Pajamas there is something for everyone, not to mention some of the cutest pj’s for children that I have ever seen.  For men, they have styles that are casual, classy and sexy all rolled into one.  Take a look.

From BedHead’s women’s collection, these two pajama sets are my absolute favorites. I could easily wear the flannel cheetah print jammies around the house all day long.  The only excuse I need is a rainy day, a good movie and a cup of delicious coffee.  The other set is a sateen kimono style pajama.  The colors and design are beautiful and the style is very sexy.  Give me a great book and a chaise lounge so I can feel completely spoiled in style.

bedhead_one

Now, at some point in life all of us ladies must endure what I call “the rite of wisdom”.  Others might just call it hot, wet misery, but with these amazing pajamas below it doesn’t matter how you look at it, there is relief.  Bed Head has blessed us with a variety of pajamas made of Cotton Voile.  What is Cotton Voile?  It is a plain weave, gauze-like, free flowing material.  Garments made of this magical fabric are perfect for summer and brief waves of heat that come and go as they please whether we want them to or not.  The sheer quality of Voile allows for maximum airflow while still providing superb coverage. And, it should come as no surprise to you that these pajamas are both adorable and chic.

bedhead_two

I find something terribly attractive about a man in pajamas, particularly in plaid prints. And, who can deny the simple allure of the basic white tee and shorts?

bedhead_three

Here we have the children’s pajamas. Having a child of my own I have to admit I melt at the sight of my daughter in her jammies. I get tickled over wispy-eyed babies in cozy little footsie sleepers and cotton thermal sets. With BedHead Pajamas new children’s line, they have definitely found my tickle spot.

bedhead_four

Last but surely not least, BedHead also offers other goods such as bedding and accessories. The bedding is very elegant and comes in most of the same prints as the pj’s. The fabrics, of course, are a gift to the touch.  And it doesn’t just stop there, BedHead has all the things we love like a warm pair of slippers, a luxurious robe or a cute little make-up case.

Our friends at BedHead are currently offering a free shipping code. Just enter “TRISJA” in the discount code box at checkout!  Oh – and sleep tight …

Target Hits Bull’s-Eye for Back to School

Posted on August 24th, 2009 by Jasmine in target 0 Comments

targetlogo

I can’t believe it’s nearing the end of August already. As all the school employees are preparing our schools for the year ahead, those of us with kids are gearing up to shop for their back to school goods. Let us be grateful for the plethora of online discounts. As an avid online shopper myself, I’ve discovered that there are almost always deeper discounts on the web than in store. Of course, there are shipping fees. However, once you’ve factored in driving from store to store, filling up on gas, dragging the kids around and having to transform from mom to lioness just to survive the crowds of bargain thirsty consumers, you realize S&H fees aren’t so bad. What if you could escape the stress of the back to school shopping frenzy by purchasing absolutely everything you needed online at one single store while saving tons of money, giving back to our local communities, as well as your favorite nonprofit? Well, I decided to put one of my favorite stores to the test, because nothing excites me more than convenience mixed with huge savings. I went to Target.com and there was nothing I wasn’t able to find through their search function. Understand me here – I found everything I was looking for! Here are some basic back-to-school styles for kids that are super-cute as well as functional.

target_one

Also, as more and more public schools are switching over to the uniform only program, the styles for school uniforms are becoming more fashionable.  It’s not just polo shirts and pleated skirts these days.  I found some snappy looks for boys and girls who have the desire to stand out from the masses.  It’s just darling to see our kids wearing swanky threads.  I love the look of the button up oxford with a tie, and teacher will be thrilled to have such a dapper little student.

target_two

For the girls I found plenty of skirts and pants. What caught my eye was this navy button up dress with just a hint of late 1940’s casual style. Also, these khaki Bermuda’s with a white button up blouse are particularly cute.

target_three

To round out the back to school shopping experience, I also found some very cool backpacks.  As a child of the 80’s, I remember the trendy designs of the Jansport backpack.  It looks like the Jansport people are still just as much stuck in the 80’s as I am. The black and white checkered backpack featured below is reminiscent of my childhood skater days. For girls I found this adorable messenger bag. It’s just the right size for textbooks and has plenty of pockets, including three pockets for pens or pencils. As for lunchboxes Target.com has all the usual stuff but this Retro Tin Lunchbox is not only awesome as is, but your kids can get their creative with it too. The lunchbox comes with art supplies to design your own signature day glow art-box!!  Like it or not day glow will always be cool.

Midsummer is upon us and if you’re anything like me, the last place you want to be during the hottest of the summer months, is cooped up inside of a stuffy mall trying to find bargains for all your summer and back-to-school needs.  Summer 2009 is all about getting out-doors and enjoying the weather while at-the-same-time staying connected and informed. It’s about being savvy, saving money and finding creative ways to make the most of your dollar. So this year, sip your morning coffee while perusing nonprofitshoppingmall.com’s newest retailers (there’s a little something for everybody) and help yourself keep life simple… shop, click, give – then get out and enjoy your day!

EDUN is a socially conscious clothing company that launched in the spring of 2005 by Ali Hewson and Bono. The company’s primary goals are to create beautiful clothes using ethical working conditions and to help create long-term sustainable employment in the developing world, particularly sub-Saharan Africa. Exquisitely designed, comfy organic cotton fabrics and sustainable business practices make indulging in Edun an irresistible pleasure. We are happy to have Edun on-board!

All I know is that my chosen nonprofit group is likely to make A LOT of money from this newly added retailer – just from my shopping alone! All my glasses, plates, napkins, patio furniture, rugs and bath-towels are straight from Cost Plus World Market, it’s truly one of my favorite stores!!! If you’ve never shopped here before you MUST check it out. All your summer hosting needs can be met here and are certain to impress. Be sure to take a look at their gourmet food and wine selections too!!!
